AUSTRALIAN NATIVES – DAVIDSON PLUm

Drawn to the flavours (Bushtucker) of Australia. Introducing my Australian Native Bush Superfood series. First up is Davidson Plum.

One of the most nutritionally powerful of Australia’s native fruits – Davisdon Plum is a good source potassium, vitamin E, folate, zinc, magnesium and calcium.

Spring is calling with this sub-tropical native... After much research, I was drawn to not only Davidson Plum’s health/medicinal properties .... But it’s attractive blossom and foliage. It provided unique inspiration to draw upon, paint and compose into a colourful illustrative pattern (more so than the fruit itself)... Showcasing its large glossy leaves and the intricate cluster of beauty from its small red/pink blossoms.

Davidson Plum’s naturally ripened skin and intense colour palette, did take me off my usual beaten track – to wander a territory of colour explosions.
