bliss balls

November 4th, 2012

Have you heard of Bliss Balls before? They are a healthy delicious little “protein energy” snack thats not filled with crap! They are surprisingly really yummy and they are filled with “all the good healthy” raw food. There are literally loads of recipes around all slightly different, this is my tweaked version. They are super quick and easy to make! Enjoy!
Bliss Balls
1 cup raw cashews ( or almonds)
8 pitted fresh dates
optional: Add 1 tablespoon of raw honey after dates and 1 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup sunflower seeds
1/4 cup of petitas (pumpkin seeds)
1/8 cup of sesame seeds (or chia seeds)
1/8 cup coconut
1/4 cup raw cocoa powder
( I personally didn’t add the honey and vanilla to mine, it was more because I forgot too, but think they taste great without them. You choose tho!)
From top to bottom of this list put in food processor. Blend then add the next ingredient until all ingredients are blended together. Take out and roll into small balls. Then roll in some extra coconut (or chia seeds, sesame seeds).
Makes about 16 balls. (depending on your ball size) 😛
Enjoy! S

a little bit off design…but into healthy living

September 12th, 2011

This post is a little bit off my “design based topic of this blog” But I don’t like to restrict myself to just design here…I do love to share everything that truly inspires me or what turns my head. Another one of my inner passions is nutrition, aromatherapy and in general ‘healthy living’.

There are so many ways to unblock ourselves from the torturous “creative block” I like burning uplifting essential oils in the office if I can’t get out and enjoy my daily dose of sunshine.

Lately I have been reading some great books also experimenting with some fantastic recipes for making great healthy fresh raw juices, natural skin care products –  which feed your skin with natural ingredients (not products that are filled with preservatives, numbers and figures with random words you have no idea how to pronounce, let alone what they are actually in the product for). This experiment has been really fun and interesting at the same time and my body feels much better for it too.

Iv’e listed the books here below. Its amasing how simple and easy some of these recipes are to make. They may not last 2 years in the fridge or cupboard but they are much better for your body. Ya might learn a thing or too also! I did! 😀

Raw Juices – Can save your life! – Dr. Sandra Cabot
This is an “A – Z Guide of Juicing” There are juices for everything in here, also tells ya the healing properties of most fruits, herbs and veges! Its really fascinating! This last week Ive been replacing my daily coffee for a ‘freshly juiced’ juice made by me. And I feel more alert and energised. Time for us designers to get juiced up and healthy, I say! 😀
Today I made a Cucumber, Celery, Fennel and Pear Juice… was delicious! Yesterday was a Carrot, Ginger and Apple Juice!

Feeding Your SkinCarla Oates (Bondi’s Beauty Chief)
A book full of chemical free recipes to keep the skin and body healthy and radiant.

A Home CompanionWendyl Nissen

Explore new things, look after ya whole body its your/our ‘vital tool’ to our imaginations! Enjoy Peeps! x
